The sign in front of the 11th Street Bridge in Tacoma, WA, indefinitely closed. This bridge was deemed unsafe for vehicular traffic, and no wonder, with guardrails like these.
There is a nesting pair of Peregrine Falcons on this bridge that have been fun to watch.

What a great composition – love the bridge peeking out from behind the sign!
Tammy said just what I was thinking! The composition of this shot is really nice and the B & W is perfect.
After the big bridge failures, I’m sure everyone is glad to see someone is thinking clearly. Leaving the bridge open to pedestrians and bicyclists (and falcons!) can bring enjoyment without the worry about safety. I’ve gone over some bridges that make me wonder if we will make it. They are so old and like you, I see the guardrails aren’t adequate.
It’s a good thing they closed it. Those are some scary looking guard rails.
I just realized your aka is CoffeePixels!!
