64 of 365 for 2009 – Rusted

This guardrail post has seen better days.

Around here, the Puget Sound area of Washington State, we are sometimes called “mossbacks”. The reason, our climate is very temperate and moss grows everywhere, except in direct sunlight, but sometimes even then in the winter, since the sun will disappear for weeks at a time. Here is one such spot with a good 1/2″ to 3/4″ of moss growing on the side of the this concrete walkway.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to comment on my photos. I read every comment and really enjoy sharing this adventure with you all.

  1. That’s a lot of rust – and the flaky rust contrasts nicely with the soft green moss. Great photo!

  2. A power wash would do wonders for that problem, but then you wouldn’t have a photo op! lol Nice shot and especially for the theme.

  3. Don’t know enough to comment on a technical level but this is a beautiful photograph!

  4. Great pic for the theme the textures are great with the mix of the moss and the rust

  5. Love all the textures, lines & shadows you’ve captured.

  6. This may be my favorite photo I’ve viewed so far. I really like the colors, textures, lighting, receding background… I could go on and on about everything I love about this shot. SUPER!

  7. You photographed this beautifully. Lots of textures with just the right amount of color.

  8. Good Day:
Your right there are great opportunities but paying for one isn’t the best
