"Past It's Prime"

This is the 11th street bridge in downtown Tacoma, WA which is now closed to vehicular traffic due to concerns about stability, it is still open to foot traffic. I walk up the steps of this bridge every day and wonder what kind of photos I could capture. Today I just stopped and fired off a few shots with no real expectations, hoping the shot would come to me. I don’t know if it did but I like the perspective.

I tried HDR type techniques on this image, I used the place command in PSE and overlayed it on itself at different exposures. I don’t know if that qualifies as HDR. More could be done but for now I am calling it a day.

  3. Beautiful image, love the lines and angles against that beautiful blue sky!

  4. Oh, I like that a lot! The clouds look fabulous and the steel has a gritty ‘past it’s prime’ look. Really, really neat photo…

  5. Ted, this is a magnificent shot, in my view. The slight tilt is really appealing and you’ve retained a lot of detail in the shadowed side of the bridge. The sky is a stunner too!

(Pardon me if this comment appears twice. I’m having a dickens of a time getting my comments through.)

  6. Oh my goodness, I’ve tried commenting on this image 3 times now and it never takes! Anyway, I love it. The sky is fabulous and you’ve retained a lot of detail in the shadows. It would probably make a fantastic true HDR…

  7. Doesn’t look like the sort of bridge I would like to drive over!! Nice editing, has worked well

  8. I love the steel gray against that beautiful blue sky…and all the lines and angles. It’s great!
